DO YOU HAVE TO WORK HARD TO MAKE MORE MONEY?

work hard

I say a very loud NO to that question!

In fact, a lot of things I thought were true just aren’t. We were all conditioned to believe a certain way about working, a job, a career… we have dragged that information around our entire lives. Sometimes that information doesn’t serve us anymore.

The truth is:

“You will never work another day in your life if you find what you are passionate about, then learn how to monetize that passion.”

work smartThe reason Your Gift is Your Niche is so popular and is getting such great results is because we focus on just that. What do you know that others would pay you to know? And how can you make money with your authentic message, so you can live the lifestyle you desire while serving others?

Although we were taught, ‘if you aren’t making enough money, YOU SIMPLY HAVE TO WORK HARDER,’ it’s just not true.I remember a friend telling me about when he was a young adult and got a job as a laborer. He was in a hole, digging, working very HARD, when a long car drove up. His boss got out and walked over to the hole saying, “Son, we have to dig much faster if we are going to be done by 5.”

That was a life-changing moment for him, because he said to himself, “Did he just say WE? There is no WE in this hole.”

That was the day he realized that the person who works the HARDEST is not always the winner.

My message this week: Discover your passion, your gifts, learn to monetize them, and you will be happy the rest of your life.

HOW IMPORTANT IS ONLINE VIDEO?

HOW IMPORTANT IS ONLINE VIDEO?

This week, I’ve been reading and learning a lot about online videos, and here is what I want to pass on to you:

8 REASONS YOU SHOULD USE A VIDEO

  1. It personalizes your message to your important clients.

  2. People are drawn to listen rather than read.

  3. It will sell your products and programs more than writing.

  4. It helps your Google ranking.

  5. Unlike a teleseminar or webinar where you can wear anything… you have to be prepared.

  6. It helps you think in sound bites.

  7. It helps you get clarity with your offers.

  8. It gives your audience a feeling of knowing you better.

I am thrilled that videos will help me move up on Google search, but most importantly to me, it will personalize me and all the new programs I am launching.

Think about it for your business, if you’re not already combining videos with your written words.

Till next time…

Upcoming event and YouTube

We are traveling to Colorado for the Holiday to spend time with our son and his family. I love Easter. I think of it as the “refreshing” holiday.

I hope you are enjoying the holiday with people you love as well.

Next week, I will be launching our LIVE event, which takes place this summer, August 13th & 14th. I think you will be pleased to learn where we are headed. Get your reservations made when you see the announcement, because there will be special pricing for my wonderful readers.

The number 1 way to get your business out to the masses on the internet is on YouTube. I have created the video in Kick it up a Notch, easily and effortlessly—well, to be honest, I did need help from my IT Department, headed up by a 14-year-old. That’s how easy it is. You have to try it.

See you next week,

Boston Revisited

We had amazing speakers in Boston for our last Maximizing Success event. We have sold that business to a wonderful guy, Mark Vaudreuil at www.maximizingsuccess.com

We helped him kick off his first event last weekend.

I wanted to recap 2 of the speakers to give YOU the bottom line from each of them.

Speaker #1: ROBERT ALLEN- best selling New York Times Author of NO MONEY DOWN.

Here was his message:

Will you be ready for 1-1-11???

On that day, will you wake up and have done something to earn the right to celebrate??

It is 9 months away and you can’t have ANY excuses.

A new millionaire is created in America every 60 minutes, and it is now YOUR turn.

If you want to retire, it will take $3 million, and that will only give you a lifestyle of 14 years with a very ordinary lifestyle.

Here are 4 ways to become rich in the next 3 years:

• Recurring income• Equity with your own business or real estate• Appreciation and growing your assets• Leverage your time and effort

If you want to become wealthy, you need a PURPOSE!!!

Speaker #2: OMAR PERIU gave us the 6 reasons that hold each of us back from getting what we want… can you identify??

1. Fear of failure2. Pain of change3. Self-doubt4. Blaming5. Justifying6. Complaining

If you identify with any of the six…STOP IT! Get past them and move on. THIS IS NOT A DRESS REHEARSAL!!

THERE you have it–2 speakers that left an impression on the audience.

Did the words leave an impression on you??

Email me your thoughts if you want to, I loved sharing part of the weekend with you.

The Jar System

YEARS ago, we had a speaker at our event, Maximizing Success, and his name was T. Harv Eker. He shared THE JAR SYSTEM with all of us that day, and it changed many peoples’ lives regarding money. Whenever I find something that is good information AND life-changing, I think it is MY responsibility to share it.

Here’s how it works. Divide your money between 6 jars, and label the jars as follows:

  1. Financial freedom account (FFA): This jar is for your financial freedom. Each month, put 10% of your income in this jar. Money you put in this jar can be used to invest, start a business, create a passive income stream, etc.

  2. Necessities (NEC): Put 55% of your income in this jar for your necessities. It’s for things like paying bills, food, necessary clothing, etc.

  3. Long term saving for spending (LTSS): Put 10% in this jar. You may have more than one LTSS jar. It’s for things like a plasma TV, your family vacation, contingency fund, your children’s education, etc. If you have more than one LTSS, divide the 10% between the jars according to your priority.

  4. Education (EDU): The 10% that goes in this jar is for your own education. It could be used to attend seminars, buy books, etc. Basically, it’s for your continuing education and learning.

  5. Play: Allocate 10% of your income for you to have guilt-free fun. Use it to go to a fancy restaurant you’ve been eyeing, or get a massage at a spa. Just do something fun. Let your inner child play.

  6. Giving (GIV): Allocate 5% of your income to give to charity. If you want to allocate 10% for giving, take 5% off your NEC jar.

Many people think, ‘But I don’t have money. I’m barely getting by. How can I manage money if I don’t have money?’ If you’re one of those people, that is exactly why you need to use this jar system. If you have very little money, you can start by dividing $1 between the jars. The amount you put in the jars doesn’t matter. It’s the habit of managing money that’s important.

So find yourself a few jars, and start dividing whatever money comes in, into the jars. Mark your calendar 6 months from now–see if it changed your life and thoughts about money.

Hope you enjoy the exercise!Patricia

P.S.Just a reminder that we will be launching lots of new products and programs soon, so watch for them.

P.P.S.

Ezine readers, I need your help…  I have a client in San Francisco that has a seasoned staffing company for sale.. Know anyone? Email me patricia@patriciadrain.com if you do.

Are You Working On Your Business, Or In It?

How could this ever be possible???

How could I work ON my business?? I was the company‘s top producer.

I was the one closing most of the deals, after all, I was the boss. I HAD to work IN the business in order to survive.

THEN I GOT IT… Until I created a business that worked without me, I only had a job, a very demanding job. At first you feel very protective of your “baby” (that business you nurtured and cared for), but eventually you have to let the “baby” grow up and take on a life of its own. One of my favorite questions for business owners who have started their own company is, “What does your ‘baby‘ look like today?”

Some of the responses have been as follows:

    • An out of control teenager.

    • A tired, sick old man.

    • A frustrated old maid.

    • An excited child with no focus.

    • A baby just learning to walk.

For all you business owners, leaders, and entrepreneurs reading this, have fun filling in the blanks.

What does your “baby” look like today?

If your answer was right on track, profitable and fun, or that it is growing, then stop reading NOW. Please give the book to a friend or business associate who could use the information.

This book is for all those business owners, entrepreneurs, and leaders who need guidance and advice in their business.

So how do you work ON your business instead of IN it?

I can only tell you what I did. You will have to design your own plan that fits your style and your company‘s. I did not quit running my desk overnight — that would not have worked in my situation.

But I did decide to start taking the early mornings NOT to go into the office, but to stay at home where I had peace and quiet and could think about what I wanted this business to look like when it was finished.

It bothers some business owners when I say ?finished? because they think it will always be a work in progress. If you are considering selling the business, you should have a “finished” product to sell.

That is when I wrote my first real business plan. Can you imagine starting a business and not having a business plan in place? If you are like the majority of business owners… yes you can.

I decided to write how my company would operate when it was complete and what it would look like if I ever decided to sell it. I didn‘t realize at the time that this would be the start of a very solid business plan that my future buyers would be very impressed with.

I started with a marketing plan. I then attacked the accounting end of the business, and then public relations. I also addressed how the meetings would be run, how management would work, what computerized systems could be put in place, the kind of training I would emphasize, how the filing would be done, and how the organizational part of the company would work.

It took a lot of time and thought to create the systems that are needed to make a company not only survive, but thrive. As I wrote out each section of the business plan, I continued feeling empowered. I started to feel like I was back in control of my life and my business once again. As I continued to work ON the business, I followed diligently the five musts in goal-setting that I was always speaking about to audiences all over the country.

These five musts have worked consistently for me for years in both mypersonal and my business life.

They are:

  • Goals must be written.

  • Goals must be attainable.

  • Goals must have a specific action plan.

  • Goals must have a deadline.

  • You must keep score of your goals.

I used a goal-setting sheet that I for each area of my business. Some goals were much longer than others because of the systems I put in place, but they were all as important to the business as the next.

This paperwork was soon bound and became my bible — my ongoing business plan.

Please make sure when you are in this stage of working on your business that you take the time to write a mission statement for your company. Mine was, “We treat both our candidates and clients with the same mutual respect that we practice within our company.” I have had several businesses copy this statement verbatim because they liked it so much, but I would advise you to brainstorm the words and verbiage that apply to you and your philosophy of business.

Well there you have it — SECRET # 1.

I am sure by this time it is very clear what I mean by work on not in your business. However, until you TAKE ACTION, all you are doing is conceptualizing, visualizing, and dreaming of what you want to have happen.

If you continue to just strategize then guess what?

YOU are still working IN your business.

DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE UNEMPLOYED?

When it happens it is not the best feeling in the world,  when you hear the words you’re laid off, your fired, we’re closing,  it is devastating.

Everyone basically goes through 5 stages when this happens

1.        I can’t believe this is happening to me

2.       If I would have done this differently  would it be different

3.       I am so angry they would do this to me …I have been so loyal

4.       I am so depressed and scared I don’t know what to do

5.       Okay I accept it….it is time to look for a new opportunity

Sometimes it is difficult to get out of the stages so we go back and forth between anger, depression and not believing you are out of a job.

Those stages are normal but  The faster you get to the acceptance stage the faster you can move on in your life and your career.

You will need an plan of action that works for you…

Here is one ACTION  you can take TODAY

Tell everyone you know you are looking for a new opportunity…….most people get behind a computer and hide the fact they are looking.  Ask for help …..you will be pleasantly surprised how many people will help you.

RESULTS VS RESOLUTIONS

ARTICLE:  RESULTS VS RESOLUTIONS

I love the title of today’s article RESULTS VS RESOLUTIONS. Year after year we come up with New Year’s resolutions. This year I personally will be focusing on results rather than New Years resolutions, and hopefully you will join me with that focus.

The tool I am sharing with you in the article today is SO simple, that we forget to use it.

Talk about the LAW OF ATTRACTION at work… I heard this message 25 years ago. This process worked so many times for me that of course I continued to use it over and over… NO

Why didn’t I constantly use this easy technique???

I am a human being just like you and I forget sometimes to continue doing the things that WORKED for me in my life. I am committed to getting back to the basics of goal setting.

You will also read in the ezine today that we are offering several new informational programs to help each of us grow our businesses as big as we wish this next year.

Read on…

Respectfully
Patricia

Several years ago I attended a seminar and heard this gentleman speak. He was talking about the power of the written word. He asked the audience a few questions:

Do you really want something??? Then write it down. Do you want to change your life??? Write it down. Do you know who you want to meet, where you want to travel, what you want to accomplish? Then

Write it down!

Okay, Okay I decided… I’ll try it! That day I started writing down my goals. What did I have to lose?

He then shared with us one of his written goals. He said, “What I want more than anything is to write a national best seller that is in every bookstore across the country.” What high expectations he had for himself. I sure hoped he’d accomplish what he wanted.

I started writing out my goals…Guess what happened? My life started unfolding right before my eyes. From the car I drove, to the house I lived in, to the business I eventually owned, to the books I have written, even to the trips my family took. It worked! Writing down my goals WORKED!!!

I began sharing my new found “miracle” with my employees, my business associates, and even started giving seminars to spread the word.

I want to share with you a few excerpts from the book Future Diary. I think it is an interesting concept about our personal power. I hope you get as much out of it as I have throughout the years.

By the way, that gentleman who wanted to write a best selling book was Mark Victor Hansen, the author of Future Diary (which didn’t become a national best-seller), but his other book…Chicken Soup for the Soul was a huge best seller. I would say his lofty goal came true, wouldn’t you??

If it worked for Mark, for me and so many others - Give it a try!…

You have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Write it down.

Target Marketing Works!

WELCOME FROM PATRICIA DRAIN

Hello everyone from sunny Arizona.

Snakes and scorpions are still roaming around but the heat is gone.
Last week I shared the fact that if we are targeting markets our success of growing any business will increase. I also shared my 3 target markets which are

  1. Women Business Owners

  2. Recruiting and Staffing Professionals

  3. Speakers/Entrepreneurs.

Please take the time today to list your target markets, it will make your business so much more enjoyable and controllable.

I also have a story in my article today from a business owner relating to the 5 step marketing system that I shared last ezine.

Her comments after trying it… ”IT WORKS.”

If it worked for her and has also worked for me, try it, what do you have to lose?

ARTICLE:  IT WORKS…  IT REALLY WORKS

Enable images in your email program to see this graphic.“Well I decided to give it a try,” Pamela Mulroy CPC, of Corporate Search Group said.  Sure enough out of the 10 companies I targeted 2 of them hired me. One company wants me to recruit a talented person for their organization, the other to train their managers on HOW TO RECRUIT, MOTIVATE, AND RETAIN TOP TALENT. Since I do business all over the country I never really thought about “targeting” companies right here in my community.

I used the same excuses most of us have used:

  • They don’t need my services in such a big company.
  • They probably think my fees are too high.
  • Which companies would I even want to do business with since I don’t even know them.

These were all my reasons that I waited 5 years before venturing out and “trying the 5 STEP TARGET MARKET SYSTEM” Patricia has shared with me for years.

I decided to do 3 emails, one direct mail piece, and one last judgment phone call for number 5. I still have 5 companies on my list that I will market to monthly, and 2 that I am doing business with presently.

IT WORKS… IT REALLY WORKS

Visit my site today at www.corpsearchgroup.com maybe we could do business together???

Pamela Mulroy CPC, Idaho

Well there you have it, proof that it can and does work, so look at your calendar and mark the days you will reach out to your target markets. Think of 5 clever subject lines that are irresistible, and start with a 5 step email campaign.

I can’t wait to hear from some of you saying…

IT WORKS… IT REALLY WORKS
