master mind group

I was on with my master mind group today and it was amazing that even though we are thinking bigger about our businesses there is still room for bigger thoughts

I shared 5 tips about brainstorming that I feel are good enough to blog about

1.  Share lots of ideas (quantity is important)

2.  Encourage WILD ideas

3.  Defer Judgment

4.  Be as visual as possible

5  One conversation at a time

Do you have a coach?

If someone would have asked me that question years ago I would have replied,  I don’t have a coach I am not that into sports.   That is what I thought it was all about .  We now have business coaches, lifestyle coaches, career coaches, employment coaches etc etc.  I do know this…..the people that take themselves seriously, in business and in life have a coach.  the people who want to go faster than most peoople in life… have a coach.

What can a coach do for you.  Give you clarity, a plan of action, and also a shift in mindset.  I was coaching someone today and it was fun to almost hear the mindshift happen on the phone.  Sometimes we don’t see how big our businesses can grow without the help of an outsider.

Whenever someone says “I can’t afford a coach”  my response is “you can’t NOT afford to hire a coach.”

I love the title of today’s article RESULTS VS RESOLUTIONS. Year after year we come up with New Year’s resolutions. This year I personally will be focusing on results rather than New Years resolutions, and hopefully you will join me with that focus.


The tool I am sharing with you in the article today is SO simple, that we forget to use it.
 

Talk about the LAW OF ATTRACTION at work… I heard this message 25 years ago. This process worked so many times for me that of course I continued to use it over and over… NO

Why didn’t I constantly use this easy technique???

I am a human being just like you and I forget sometimes to continue doing the things that WORKED for me in my life. I am committed to getting back to the basics of goal setting.

You will also read in the ezine today that we are offering several new informational programs to help each of us grow our businesses as big as we wish this next year.

Several years ago I attended a seminar and heard this gentleman speak. He was talking about the power of the written word. He asked the audience a few questions:

Do you really want something??? Then write it down. Do you want to change your life??? Write it down. Do you know who you want to meet, where you want to travel, what you want to accomplish? Then
 

Write it down!

Okay, Okay I decided… I’ll try it! That day I started writing down my goals. What did I have to lose?

He then shared with us one of his written goals. He said, “What I want more than anything is to write a national best seller that is in every bookstore across the country.” What high expectations he had for himself. I sure hoped he’d accomplish what he wanted.


I started writing out my goals…Guess what happened? My life started unfolding right before my eyes. From the car I drove, to the house I lived in, to the business I eventually owned, to the books I have written, even to the trips my family took. It worked! Writing down my goals WORKED!!!

I began sharing my new found “miracle” with my employees, my business associates, and even started giving seminars to spread the word.

I want to share with you a few excerpts from the book Future Diary. I think it is an interesting concept about our personal power. I hope you get as much out of it as I have throughout the years.

By the way, that gentleman who wanted to write a best selling book was Mark Victor Hansen, the author of Future Diary (which didn’t become a national best-seller), but his other book…Chicken Soup for the Soul was a huge best seller. I would say his lofty goal came true, wouldn’t you??

If it worked for Mark, for me and so many others - Give it a try!…

You have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

One company wants me to recruit a talented person for their organization, the other to train their managers on HOW TO RECRUIT, MOTIVATE, AND RETAIN TOP TALENT. Grab the Brass Ring

I recently had the opportunity to work with a woman business owner named Linda, to not only help build her business, but to turbo charge it. It was such an exciting venture to watch Linda discover an excitement about her business once again. You see her business had become a “job” that she was stuck in. She needed clarity, she needed new information, she needed a plan of action.

As we worked together the business started coming alive because of new marketing strategies we put in place, new ways to make money in several areas of her business that she simply was not seeing for herself.  She focused on areas in the business that she loved to do,  was very good at doing, and got someone else to do the rest, so she could grow the business.

The best part of the story is that Linda did not have the money to hire a mentor, she definitely did not have the time, since she was dancing as fast as she could just to get new business. She had also just been faced with her Mom’s death and a lot of challenges at the time.

Are You Living Your Passion?

As I interviewed thousands of people over a 20 year period at the Executive Recruiting Firm I owned in Phoenix AZ, I discovered that the majority of people are NOT living their passion. Instead they are showing up for a “job,” collecting a pay check, counting the days until the weekend or counting the months until their next one week vacation. Let me share a couple examples of a few clients that learned how to design a lifestyle and a career so they could “have it all” and start living THEIR Passion.

Consider Mary:

She just turned 40 has three children ages 3, 8 and 12 and works part time out of her home as an executive recruiter earning approximately 30K a year. Mary wanted and needed to take her business and her income to another level but wondered if she had to get an office to do so or hire an assistant. That was not necessarily what she wanted to do. Her real passion was teaching, communicating and helping others.

Mary had her “Aha” moment during our first consultation when she realized that she had the knowledge and tools to share with other Moms who wanted to stay at home, work part time, while contributing to the family finances.

She started designing an internet based company to sell the “how to” formula that has worked for her for the past 13 years. This was using her creativity, her natural ability to organize, and her teaching skills. She discovered she did not need to go out of her home to make money. I think it is important to brainstorm with others until you find your “aha” moment about how you can start living your passion. You owe it to yourself to find out what is right for YOU to do with the rest of your life. To discover your passion and purpose.

Another client Ted (38)…… had been building an insurance agency for the past 15 years. When his wife asked for a divorce his world changed. He started asking himself “what do I want to do now, I never did love the insurance business.” However Ted also had what I consider the golden handcuffs ….How do you walk away from something that affords you a great lifestyle like Ted had?

You Don’t!

You keep that business going and growing as it always has even if you have to hire some part time or temporary employees to get you through the transition, but then start looking at what YOU really want to do?

Ted worked through the process of getting to know what HE really wanted in life. What he realized was he needed to be outdoors, and work in the soil, of course his insurance sales position never allowed him to do that. He started one little step at a time just by adding outdoor activities to his every day life while his cash cow continued to work for him.

Giving himself permission to be outdoors and working in the earth, Ted is now developing a part time landscaping company that he works in on the weekends.

I am sure the end of this story for Ted we will find him happier and more fulfilled than he has ever been in life because he found what makes him happy at the core of his being.

The days of working in a career for 50 years (as my Dad did) receiving a gold watch and retiring until it is time to die are gone forever.

One question I get asked all the time is:

How does a person know if they are on the right track with their career and if they are possibly living their passion?

Allow me to ask you 4 simple questions to know if you are on the right path.

1. When you tell others what you do for a living are you proud of what you do?

2. When you are at work does time fly by until it is time to go home?

3. Do you feel creative and productive when you are at work?

4. Do you generally look forward to going to work each day?

These are just 4 out of hundreds of questions to ask yourself so you can begin living your passion. One of the keys to future success with anyone’s career is finding out what you really want and who you really are. It all begins with simple questions and answers about You, Your needs, your desires.
