Mistakes happen

I just put out an email to 15,000 people with a GLARING error.   I thought since it was short and sweet I did not need my editor to look at it.   Never trust your own eyes when sending out emails or newsletters.  I have learned my lesson.

I had a gentleman say he did not know what to do to make money……..he has an english literature masters degree.  Welcome the editor, proof reader making 20-40 an hour.  People like myself are constantly writing articles, newsletters, books etc etc.  We need people like him or any of you reading this to help us with this task

My point is, if you are an editor, proofreader, ghostwriter, there is lots of business out there for you.   Just start asking for it……….Good Luck

7 SECRETS FOR GROWING A BUSINESS THAT HAS VALUE

I thought since I wrote the book and also speak all over the country about this subject that I might as well share it on my blog for all you fellow boomer business owners.  So here are the 7 Secrets for actually growing any business anywhere anytime.

1.  Work on your business not in it.   I did this by putting one hour first thing on my calendar so I could create a company that some day someone would pay $$$ for

2.  Create Systems to create value.  I created 29 systems from how the receptionist answered the phone, to how long meetings would last, to how an invoice would be sent.

3.  Be Unique or at least be perceived as being unique.  I did this by focusing a 6 month campaign sending out press releases, articles, and calling the news so people thought we were at the top of the heap when it came to executive recruiting firms.  We were featured on several magazines and radio shows………it worked

4.  Recruit , motivate, and retain the BEST employees……..the operative word here is BEST.  Do not keep someone past the time they are serving the company.   Just remember to add NEXT to your vocabulary.

5.  Know your value.  I figured mine out when someone made me an offer otherwise I didn’t know what I was building was valuable.   You have something of value if you look at it that way.

6.  Have an exit strategy.  What will you do for Plan B when you shut the door to this business.  Most people say “travel” but you can only do that for awhile then reality sets in.  So start thinking of your Plan B

7.  If you want to grow your business you have to get out of your own way……the title says it all.  Move over and let success and big thinking into your business.

Respectfully submitted
